What is Nilsomna?
Nilsomna is not just a place — it is an experience, a state of being where time stops, and consciousness is stripped of all emotions, thoughts, and actions. It is a realm beyond existence, where one’s soul detaches from the body and merges with the vastness of nothingness. In this liminal space, there is no interaction, only observation. There are no humans, no animals, no life. The world is frozen in a single frame, with cold rocky mountains, pale skies, and a sun that hangs in the sky, never moving.
This is a place that transcends time and space — a space where consciousness floats, detached from the physical, while the universe moves around it. Yet in this stillness, there is no silence; instead, the sound of the void fills the air. Deep, metallic, and intrusive, it resonates everywhere, becoming one with the very essence of this place. Nilsomna is a vast landscape of indifference, of unchanging stillness, where time has collapsed, and entropy has come to a halt.
The Call of the Void
To many, the idea of dissolving into nothingness might sound unsettling, even terrifying. But for me, Nilsomna represents something else. It is the ultimate homecoming — the final destination for the soul after a lifetime of experience. It is the point where the self dissolves and merges with the void, where all desires, ego, and fears cease to exist. The pull toward Nilsomna feels like a "call of the void", an irresistible gravitational force that exists deep within. It is a longing that grows stronger with time, a desire to transcend the limitations of this physical life and fully immerse in the timeless, emotionless peace of nothingness.
This desire is not one driven by a fear of life or a rejection of reality. Rather, it is an acceptance of the inevitable end and an obsession with the purity of that ultimate state. To surrender to the void, to be consumed by it, is to find release from everything that binds me to this world. It is the highest, most unattainable form of existence — a state of being that is so immense and so great that it defies all understanding.
Music as the Gateway
The music I listen to acts as the key to Nilsomna. Artists like Willix, Antent, and hiræth create compositions that serve as the portal into this otherworldly realm. With each note, I feel myself collapsing inward, my senses turning away from the physical world and focusing on a single, intense point inside my mind. The sound builds a bridge between the two realities, syncing my consciousness with the void.
It’s a dissociation from everything around me — a mental shift where I am drawn into a deep, inner space. My body and mind detach, allowing me to hover at the edge of Nilsomna. The static noise, the deep hums, and the metallic tones of the music align perfectly with the ambient hum of the void. As the music plays, I become one with the sound, and for a moment, I am part of the frozen landscape.
The Paradox of Longing and Fear
Yet, as much as I crave Nilsomna, there is also a part of me that fears it. The fear doesn’t exist when I am in the void — it belongs to this world. Here, in daily life, the idea of dissolving into nothingness can be overwhelming. The thought of leaving everything behind — my identity, my experiences, my connections — feels like too much to deal with every day. I know that to surrender to Nilsomna too soon would be to surrender to death, and that is not something I seek in this life.
I must live a full and happy life, embracing everything that comes with existence, while always knowing that Nilsomna waits patiently for me. The pull toward the void may grow stronger, but it is not yet time to give in. There is much more to experience in this world before I return to that final place of stillness.
Finding Peace in the Ultimate End
In the end, Nilsomna brings me a sense of relief. I know that no matter how long this life lasts, no matter how far I travel or how much I experience, the final destination is the same. When the time comes, I will dissolve into the void, and all will be well. There will be no fear, no uncertainty — only the calm, peaceful nothingness of Nilsomna.
And so, as I continue to explore this life, I carry with me the knowledge of the vastness that awaits. It is not an ending to be feared, but a homecoming to be embraced. In the void, everything becomes one, and in the end, everything will be fine.
Immerse Yourself
To fully immerse yourself in the experience of Nilsomna, I have included two playlists I have created for this very sole purpose. Each offers a different auditory journey into this surreal realm. The first playlist is more ambient and calm, evoking the serene, still nature of Nilsomna with gentle, ethereal sounds that help you drift into the void. The second playlist carries a more energetic, intense atmosphere, with deeper tones and rhythmic pulses, simulating the cosmic force and pull that Nilsomna exerts. You can choose which soundtrack resonates most with your inner experience, allowing the music to guide your journey into the timeless expanse of Nilsomna.
